How I build
These are the steps a model here can go through, from its first shape to a slice report. Not every model goes through all of them.
Design
Each model is designed and sculpted in Blender. Faces, horns and hulls get natural curves. Cases, brackets and joints are modelled to exact sizes so that they fit.
Each model is shaped around the parts it holds, so a clearance, a board or a battery can change without the model being drawn again.
Materials
I print only in PLA and PETG from Bambu Lab and Prusament. Some models use a special kind, such as Bambu's PLA Aero, a PLA that foams as it prints and weighs about half as much.
Checks before printing
Every mesh is checked to be watertight before it is exported, because a mesh with a hole slices badly.
Slicing
Models with a print table are sliced in Bambu Studio. The print time and filament weight in each print table come from that slice.
Colour
Each model has three colours, chosen by the 60-30-10 rule. One colour covers most of the model, a second covers less and a third is an accent.
The colours change by height on an AMS, so few layers mix two colours.
Credits
Many models build on someone else's design, scan or measurements. A model built on someone else's design names that design and its licence on its page.
