About the design

A fire dragon with scaled flame spines, horns, clawed legs and a curling tail, which prints in one go and moves straight off the bed. Its sculpt is davidkelly021's popular fire dragon, rebuilt on my own captive joints: each is a post with a wide foot held under a 45 degree roof in the next piece's collar, with a fixed 0.30 mm gap at any size, so the pieces cannot pull apart and the joints keep their fit when you scale it. Most joints swing 30 degrees each way and those beside the shoulders and hips 15. It prints flat in the base dragon's own curl, with no supports and no brim, in dark red with an orange back and gold spine tips and horns.

What you can change

  • Overall scale
  • Joint clearance for your printer
  • Swing per joint, and at the shoulders and hips
  • The joints' post, foot, collar and arm
