About the design

These are a real ram's horns. Their shape, growth ridges and slight differences between left and right come from a 3D scan of a ram's skull in the collection of the Polish Academy of Sciences, scaled to 62 %. Each horn sits on a black clip whose groove takes a plain 10 mm headband, held by two zip ties, and glues onto a keyed spigot, so there is no magnet to pull out and no dowel to snap. Worn, the horns rise from the band and curl back and down towards the ears, clear of the head by about 8 mm.

What you can change

  • Size, as a share of the real horn
  • Where on the band the horns sit, and their turn
  • Headband width, thickness and curve
  • Spigot size, key and glue clearance

The horns are the sheaths of "Ovis aries - 171415, Zoological collection of the Mammal Research Institute, PAS", a 3D scan of a real ram's skull by the Mammal Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences (Open Forest Data, https://doi.org/10.48370/OFD/YSDP5F), licensed CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Changes: the two horn sheaths are taken from the skull, closed at the base, scaled to 62 %, turned onto a headband, cut flat at the root and given a glue socket.
