About the design
I built this truggy for top speed on a 4S pack. A 3660 brushless motor drives metal diffs front and rear through a steel pinion and spur, and on paper the gearing passes 100 km/h. The chassis is a tub with a central rib and two side rails, and a spine across the top closes it into a box. A bow-shaped bumper takes the first hit ahead of the tyres. The lower arms are deep ribbed channels, which I sized for a hard landing on one wheel. The motor plate slides to set the gear mesh, and a guard keeps stones out of the gears. A servo saver and thick tie rods protect the steering. The body has a wedge nose, a bubble canopy and side scoops, and the rear wing presses the tail down at speed. Every part I print is PETG, and the wheels and tyres come ready glued.
What you can change
- The gearbox housing's size, which places the cradles and caps
- Motor, pinion and spur, with the mesh set on the motor plate
- Pack, ESC, receiver and servo
- Suspension pivots, caster and rear toe-in
- Wheel and tyre size and offset
- Ground clearance and the chassis's walls
- The body's shell and the room round the wheels

The layout follows "100km/h 3d Printed RC Car" by Hydrance (https://makerworld.com/en/models/2832201), shared under the MakerWorld Exclusive License. It is a 4WD truggy on bought metal diff gearboxes joined by a 170 mm centre shaft, with dogbones, 100 mm shocks and 130 mm monster truck wheels on 4S. Its users' lessons shaped my lower arms, gear mesh, bumper and steering. The design is my own and uses none of its files or geometry.
